What is SLPOST COURIER SERVICE ?

SLPOST COURIER SERVICE is a speedy delivery service with special focus introduced by the Department of Posts to align with market competitiveness and affordability for the public wherein the accepting office is a letter delivery office, items are dispatched within 24 hours inside its delivery zone, and within 48 hours outside such zone.

Items that can be sent under this service ?
  • All items other than the ones that have been prohibited by the regulations and circulars / instructions of the Department of Posts, and the items not conforming to standard sizes, can be accepted for mailing purposes.
  • Maximum weight allowable for mailing is 40 kg.
How items can be handed over for mailing ?

Items can be handed over to post office / sub-post office counters as a single item or a list of items.

How to register for SLPOST COURIER SERVICE ?

Registration is not required.
(Institutions / individuals handing over items in bulk for mailing may register if required.)

How to pack the items ?
  • Since items up to 40 kg can be accepted under this courier service, they are required to be accepted, subject to postal regulations and standard limits set out in postal guidelines (length / width / height) for ease of handling and delivery.
  • Items must be packed in strong boxes or covers to prevent damage to contents in the parcel or other postal items dealt therewith.
  • Sender’s name and address should be indicated on the left side of the parcel and the recipient’s name and address on the right side, with recipient’s phone number along with the recipient’s address, if available, below such address.
  • Postal code should compulsorily be indicated below the destination office in the recipient’s address for easy identification and timely delivery of the posted items to the owner without delay.
  • A clear space should be kept void at the top left-hand corner of the parcel for fixing the barcode label of the SLPOST COURIER SERVICE and its rubber stamp.
Delivery of items to the recipient ?
  • If the accepting post office / sub-post office is a letter delivery office, items are delivered within 24 hours inside its zone, and within 48 hours outside of its zone under SLPOST COURIER SERVICE.
  • Information from acceptance to delivery of items to the owner under SLPOST COURIER SERVICE is entered in a dedicated software exclusively designed for it.
  • Items up to 20 kg are delivered to the recipient’s address by the postman/messenger. Items over 20 kg (up to 40 kg) are required to be collected from the destination post office, and the recipient is informed accordingly. (The sender is notified of this requirement at the time of the acceptance of items for mailing.)
  • Priority is given to SLPOST COURIER SERVICE parcels, with three delivery attempts of items to the recipient.
  • If delivery cannot be made after three such attempts under SLPOST COURIER SERVICE, the item will be returned, clearly indicating the reasons for its non-delivery.
Complaints / Requests regarding the service ?
  • For any delays in delivery, loss or damage of items, information could be obtained by contacting the office where the item was handed over.
