Postcard
Send your messages at low Cost (Domestic)
- Use Postcards to send greetings, share travel experiences or simply stay in touch with friends and family at low cost.
- Postcards are issued by the Post Office. They have the relevant value printed on the face and are sold at their face value.
- Individual postcards of personal production may be transmitted by post as postcards. Their sizes shall comply with the prescribed standards and shall not be thinner or more flexible than the postcards issued by the post office in material.
- Maximum size limits are,
- Maximum length – 140mm
- Maximum width – 90mm
- Minimum size limits are,
- Minimum length-100mm
- Minimum width- 60mm
- If the postage of a postcard has not been prepaid, a surcharge will be levied before the letter is delivered to the addressee. The surcharge is double the outstanding postage. The minimum surcharge is Rs. 25.00
Special Rules
- Postcards that have been folded, cut or otherwise altered cannot be mailed unless they are enclosed in an envelope.
- The right-hand side of a postcard is always reserved for the recipient’s address, postage stamp, and postal instructions. (mailing labels, etc.)
- The left-hand side of the postcard can be used for a return address or other correspondence. The back of a postcard can be used for writing necessary information.
- All labels and stamps that could be mistaken for postage should be affixed only to the back of the postcard.
- Nothing else may be attached to a postcard except the following:
- A stamp to pay the postage
- A label or piece of paper, Fully glued to the postcard, bearing the name and address of the sender (maximum length 51 mm and maximum width 19 mm)
- A piece of engraving, illustration, drawing, photograph, or printed matter, fully attached to the postcard
