Advertising Mail Service (Ad-Mail)
Advertising Mail Service is the service of distributing advertisements, leaflets, promotional letters, trade samples etc., without specific addresses, tailored to the needs of the business community, to communicate target customers about their products at a very concessional rate basis.
Handing over Advertising Mails
- Leaflets should be handed over by the relevant business institute to the Post Office, which distributes mails in the area where advertising should be done.
- Minimum copies of leaflets should be thousand (1000) or above.
Advertising Mail items accepted for distribution
- Printed advertisements, brochures
- Letters including promotional information
- Papers on public surveys and contests
- Trade samples
- Campaign letters related to a political party can’t be sent under this service.
Also, the postal items should be complied with the rules and regulations and standard
sizes mentioned in Post Office Rules and the Post Office Guide.

- Weight of a leaflet or a set – 100g
- Weight of a trade sample – 100g

Applying for Advertising Mail Service
- The application form should be completed and handed over to the Postmaster of the
relevant Post Office along with any type of leaflet or trade sample which intended to
be distributed under the Advertising Mail Service. (Annexure 01) - The ADM number approved and issued by the Deputy Postmaster General Office and
the valid time period should be mentioned/ printed on each leaflet/sample.
Paying Fees
- The fees related to the number of advertising items, should be paid to the Postmaster
at the time of handing over the advertising items and the relevant receipt should be
obtained.
Distributing the Advertising Mail Items
- The leaflets/samples will be distributed within a period of two weeks from the date of
approval for the distribution.
