Postage for local letters shall be paid by affixing a stamp or franking stamp or by another approved payment method (such as Free Postage Service / Prepaid Service).
  • Maximum size limits are,
    • Maximum length-610mm
    • Maximum width-300mm
    • Maximum thickness / depth   300mm
  • Maximum Weight 2kg
  • Minimum cost on Ordinary mail / Business Ordinary letter is Rs 50.00 (For a letter weighing 20g)
  • If the postage of a letter has not been prepaid, a surcharge will be levied before the letter is delivered to the addressee. The surcharge is double the outstanding postage. The minimum surcharge is Rs. 25.00

Letters can be posted to a letter box, but must be posted to the counter in the following cases:

    • Letters to be registered
    • Letters to be insured
    • Letters for which postage is paid by stamp machine
    • Letters too large to be posted to the letter box
    • Letters mailed on certificate of postage
  • SLP Courier letters
  • Letters mailed under Free Postal facilities
  • Letters mailed under Bulk / Business Postal facilities
  • Priority Service letters
  • Letters with high value stamps.
