Post Card

Post cards (International)

Use postcards to send greetings, share travel experiences, or simply stay in touch with friends and family at low cost. Service available only in air mail

  • Single or double-sided folded sheets (well glued together) made of strong paper or cardboard, are considered as foreign postcards.
  • Postcards should be sent uncoated, that is, without a wrapper or envelope. They can only be sent by airmail. They can be registered. For this, registration fees must be paid additionally.

  • If the postage of a postcard has not been prepaid, a surcharge will be charged before the postcard is delivered to the addressee. The surcharge is double the outstanding postage. The minimum surcharge is Rs. 160/-.
Size and Weight Limits
    • Maximum size limits is,

Maximum length                :159mm
Maximum width                 :100mm

    • The minimum size limit is,

Minimum length                 : 140 mm
Minimum width                  : 90 mm

Unpaid or underpaid postal cards
  • Unpaid or underpaid postal cards should first be rectified by the sender.
  • For postal cards that cannot be rectified by the sender, a fee equal to twice the deficiency in the prescribed rate will be charged to the addressee.
Special Rules
  • The right-hand side of a postcard shall be reserved for the address and for postage notes, labels, and postage stamps.
  • It is prohibited to send postcards with the address side completely or partially cut off. (If so, the address can be rewritten.)
  • The sender may use the left-hand side and/or back of the postcard in accordance with the following provisions.
  • Merchandise or samples thereof or other similar material may not be attached to the postcard.
    • However, illustrations, photographs, stamps of any kind, labels on paper or other very thin material may be attached to the postcard
    • Items that can be attached may be sent only if they are completely attached to the postcard and if such attachment does not alter the appearance of the postcard.
    • Address labels may be attached even if the address side is completely covered.
  • Stamps that may be mistaken for postage stamps should be affixed only to the back of the postcard.
  • The right-hand side of the address side of a postcard is always reserved for the recipient’s address and the postage stamp and postal instructions (postage labels, etc.). The stamp should be at the top.
  • The left-hand side of the address side of a postcard may be used for writing a return address or for writing another letter. The back of a postcard may be used for writing necessary information.
  • All stamps that may be mistaken for postage should be affixed only to the back of the postcard.
Post Cards contrary to the statutes and restrictions
  • Postage cards that violate statutes or size restrictions, if found in the mail, will be treated as letters.
  • However, if the only offense committed is the affixing of postage stamps to the back of the postcard, the postage will be treated as unpaid.
